For over 40 years, James Snow has been instrumental in shaping the landscape of youth bowling in Maryland and the District of Columbia.
Jim did not have a child in a bowling program but nonetheless is very influential in the development of some of the most successful bowlers to come out of this area. Many of the youths he has coached have competed successfully in local and national tournaments. Several have gone to bowl collegiately on bowling scholarships. Through his mentoring and leadership, most have become successful in life.
During his continued service regarding youth bowling, Jim has demonstrated his youth acumen and service through his positive interactions with youths of all ages on and off the lanes as well as his providing instruction, equipment, transportation, and, at times, even entry fees at no charge to parent or child.
Jim, who served with honor and distinction in the United States Air Force, has bowled competitively in the area and coached for the Silver Hill Strikers Youth Bowling Program for over 43 years; was a Greater Washington Bowling Senate tournament director for two years and an unofficial photographer for NCABA & NCAUSBCA for over two decades.
Jim currently serves as Head Coach, Potomac Lanes Advance League. Under his coaching and directions over the past three years, bowlers from this league have placed first, second, and fourth in the Invitational, first and second in the Danny Wiseman Tournament, have won several 600 Club tournaments (singles and doubles), won the Maryland State Team and All-Events Championships, the Singles and Doubles Championships, and placed high in the TNBA Youth Eastern Regional Tournament. Without his bowling acumen, none of the success associated with the league would have been possible. During his tenure as Head Coach, the league has had one youth bowl collegiately and another receive a bowling scholarship.
James Snow hereby is rewarded for his service to the youth bowling community at large with a special spot in the NCAUSBCA Hall of Fame.
