August 19, 1993: Unknown Brian Davis leaves only the 2-pin in his title match against leading qualifier Walter Ray Williams Jr., scoring a 299-267 victory at the Greater Harrisburg (Pa.) Open in his first national PBA tournament. Hall of Famer Mike McGrath is the only other PBA member to score a win in his initial national event, capturing the 1965 Portland (Ore.) Open.


August 19, 1987: Top seed Teata Semiz defeats Darrel Curtis, 223-186, to take home his second senior title at the Ebonite PBA Senior Championship in Canton, Ohio.


August 19, 1980: Joe Berardi wins his third PBA title with a 223-198 victory over tournament leader Guppy Troup in the Buffalo Open in Cheektowaga, N.Y.
