July 4, 1996: Earl Anthony's attempt at a triumphant comeback to bowling after being away from the game for five years falls one game short when the 58-year-old legendary left-hander, who qualified second, falls to top seed Hobo Boothe, 225-200, in the championship match of the Seattle PBA Senior Open.

July 4, 1992: Bob Vespi wins his first PBA title by defeating Ron Williams, 234-203, at the Tucson Open. Fifth seed Vespi earlier handled Wayne Webb (244-225), David Traber (259-226), and defending champion Norm Duke (244-187) to reach the deciding contest.
